LAPP hosts the 7th Workshop on Physics at the Future Circular Collider

LAPP is honoured to host the 7th Physics Workshop of the Future Circular Collider (FCC), from Monday, 29th January to Friday, 2nd February 2024.

This event gathers over 100 particle physics researchers from around the world, all actively engaged in various capacities in the FCC project. It occurs midway through the feasibility study review of the FCC, during which researchers are working towards reaching short-term conclusions that will bring the project closer to its concrete realization. This approach is aimed at preparing for a clear and robust recommendation during the next update of the European Strategy.

In this context, the 7th FCC Physics Workshop in Annecy provides a unique opportunity to strengthen the FCC community in both physics and detector aspects. Furthermore, it will facilitate the planning and initiation of future work for the year 2025. Considering that the FCC project will have a significant impact on LAPP and the Greater Annecy region, with a potentially close experimental interaction point to the laboratory and significant repercussions on the region, hosting this event at LAPP holds particular importance.

LAPP is actively involved in the FCC project, providing various contributions. It is engaged in exploring acceleration technologies and interfaces between the accelerator and detectors. Additionally, the laboratory is dynamically involved in the development of future detectors for FCC and their use in electron-positron collider experiments. In parallel, LAPP is conducting studies on the socio-economic implications of the FCC project on the Annecy region.
