Galactic cosmic rays and the role of precision cross-sections – F. Donato (Turin University) – May 23rd 2025 @14h
LAPP/LAPTh joint seminar
The unprecedented precision of data coming from space challenges our understanding of the origin and the behaviour of particles arriving from space. The interpretation of these data is stimulating a very rich and active debate in the astroparticle community, with strong discovery and constraining potentials on many topics such as dark matter, acceleration and transport of cosmic rays, Galactic sources. However, the consensus in the community is that these interpretations are limited by nuclear cross-section uncertainties. We will present a road map to close the most urgent cases by accelerator campaigns undertaken at facilities or experiments for ongoing and future cross-section measurements.
The seminar will be in English.
