LAPP Participates in USMB ERASMUS+ programme with Ukraine

In February 2019, Olena Borovska (Kyiv Academic University), Volodomyr Horkavenko (Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv), Tetyana Oriekhova (Vasyl Stus Donetsk National University) and Olena Protsenko (Sumy State University), the representatives of four Ukrainian universities visited LAPP and met its director to discuss closer cooperation in the context of the University of Savoie Mont-Blanc (USMB) ERASMUS+ programme.

A year later, two M1 students from the Taras Shevchenko National University of Kiev arrived at LAPP for a four months internship in the ATLAS group. The coronavirus lockdown created unexpected constraints, but LAPP students and supervisors adapted quickly to the unprecedented situation and work is continuing full-speed, profiting from the distributed computing network resources and virtual meetings.

Yurii Kvasiuk is working with Tetiana Berger-Hryn’ova on searches for new phenomena in the final states with two leptons and Denys Timoshyn is working with Stephane Jezequel and Mohamed Belfkir on the measurement of production rate of two Higgs bosons in the same proton-proton collision.

When their university reopens the two students will have analysed data of the ATLAS experiment, plenty of interesting results to include in their master theses and stories to share, in the spirit of the Erasmus program.
