The women of LAPP visit local schools

For the International Day of Women and Girls in Science on February 11, women scientists from LAPP will talk about their career in schools in Haute-Savoie.

Since 2015, the UN invites the whole world to celebrate the International Day of Women and Girls in Science on February 11. This year, for the first time, LAPP joins CERNUNIGE Scienscope, and EPFL in proposing the visit of women working in science and technology to schools in the region.

The aim is to tell children, girls and boys, about their careers and about science, and to show how exciting and open scientific careers are to all. An occasion to remember that careers have no gender.

Women are still under-represented in scientific disciplines. Only 33% of scientific researchers are women. These interventions of female role models are therefore extremely important to show that women have their place in the scientific world, and to encourage young girls to choose these professions.
