The gravitational waves night
The CNRS and the French Physics Society (SFP) are organizing the « Gravitational waves night » on March 20, 2017 in 15 towns in France and Italy. In Annecy, LAPP is organizing this celebration at the Imperial Palace. This event, free and open to all, will celebrate the gravitational waves discovery announced in February 2016 with a scientific conference, virtual visits of laboratories, a quizz and a projection of movie’s extracts commented.
The Gravitational waves night will be the opportunity for students and everybody curious of science to learn and exchange about this major scientific discovery. This celebration will take place in 12 town in France and 2 in Italy.
In each town the celebration will begin at 6:30pm with a scientific conference: in Annecy it will be given by Benoît Mours, researcher at LAPP. At about 8:15pm all sites will be connected by video for a live visit of the Virgo control room in Cascina (Italy) and other visits. In Annecy the theatre group Souffleurs aux Gradins will moderate the evening and the contemporary artist Jordane Saget will propose a live performance!
