The 2023 “École de Gif” School: Effective theories for particle physics – From 18 to 22 September

The IN2P3 School of Particle Physics, known as the “École de Gif”, is the oldest of the IN2P3’s thematic schools. The 2023 edition is organised by the LAPP and the LAPTh and will be held in Annecy from 18 to 22 September. The school content will be exclusively in French.

The 2023 “École de Gif” School in Annecy: Effective theories for particle physics

The 2023 edition of the Ecole de Gif, organised by the LAPP and LAPTh laboratories in Annecy, focuses on Effective Theories for Particle Physics.

The school aims to cover the theoretical and phenomenological aspects of effective field theories applied to high-energy physics. Precision measurements of the Standard Model in various complementary sectors (Higgs Boson, vector bosons, top quark, anomaly in the b-quark sector, etc.) and used for interpretations within the framework of effective field theories will also be presented.

The current state of the interpretation of the LHC results within the framework of effective field theories will also be taught, with a focus on longer-term prospects (LHC Run3, HL-LHC and Higgs factory), as well as a description of the tools for carrying out this type of study. The course will also look at other applications of effective field theories, such as the search for dark matter.
