Future Circular Collider: What? Why? When?

The Future Circular Collider program is profiling itself as the next big challenge taken up by fundamental science. This ambitious program would be a unique opportunity to fuel the field of high-energy physics for several decades to come. Be it for exploring the standard model with unprecedented precision or to search for new physics, this machine is being designed with versatility and diversity at the heart of its multi-stage program. This presentation will aim at providing a snapshot at the current state of affairs. Emphasis will be given on the physics case, particularly for the early stage with electron-positron collisions.

The second part will be aimed at physicists focusing on the art of effectively communicating these concepts to a non-specialist audience.

F. BISHOP (LAPP) – Seminar – January 17th 2025 – 14h

The Standard Model (SM) has gaps, like the matter-antimatter imbalance, hinting at physics beyond the SM (BSM). Double-charm B meson decays are key to exploring this. Recent LHCb findings, such as the unexpected evidence of Bc→Ds+D0bar decay or the first measurements of CPV and branching fractions of lighter B mesons decays, suggest possible BSM physics.
