IT expertise for day-to-day work and international experience
Since the creation of the laboratory, IT has been a vital tool for carrying out our research missions. To meet this need on a day-to-day basis, the IT department is made up of 21 men and women who are responsible for advancing our projects on 3 essential fronts:
- the implementation and maintenance of IT work tools, systems and networks on the one hand ;
- the development of bespoke software for scientific experiments in the fields of data acquisition, detector control and command, and high-performance data simulation, production and analysis;
- and finally, a very significant contribution to the major international computing and storage grids for the massive processing of data from high-energy physics experiments, thanks to our computing mesocentre.

Skills and professions
In the context of international collaborations, the electronics department provides support for the LAPP’s contribution physics programmes: design, production and maintenance of the electronic systems required for the smooth running of the laboratory’s experiments:
- Definition of specifications with the physicists involved in the experiment.
- Design, production and fine-tuning of prototypes.
- Definition of test tools for mass production of electronic modules.
- Assessment of resources and budgets.
- Working with industrial subcontractors.
- Maintenance of experiments.
- Providing technical support to other laboratory departments.
- Project management
Service organisation
In order to carry out each of our 3 main missions, the department is naturally divided into three groups: the Infrastructure team, the Software Engineering team and the MUST Digital Platform team.
